These community priorities set out the focus areas that guide my work, shaped by what residents have raised, what I’ve observed across our communities, and the practical work I’ve already been doing.

I can’t guarantee every outcome on my own, but I can promise to:

  • Stand up for these priorities wherever decisions are made.
  • Build partnerships that make progress possible.
  • Press for practical solutions that make a real difference.
  • Be open about progress – and honest about challenges.

Better roads and transport

Everyone should be able to get around safely and reliably – whether walking, cycling, driving, or using public transport.
I will keep pressing for safer crossings (like the A30 improvements we’re working on), better junction design, drainage improvements, and road safety measures that ensure our transport infrastructure serves residents effectively – from zebra crossings outside schools to addressing the pothole backlog.

Protecting green spaces and rural character

Our countryside is part of what makes this area special – the gaps that keep our villages distinct, the footpaths that connect us to the wider landscape, and the green spaces that give our communities breathing room.
I will continue to stand up for our green spaces, protect strategic gaps (like the Oakley–Basingstoke gap and around North Waltham), work to create green corridors that link communities to the countryside, and support tree planting and biodiversity that enhances rather than replaces what’s already here. I’ll also press for better access to these spaces so everyone can enjoy them – including improving footpaths and access points for people of all abilities.

Sustainable, well-designed development

Growth should work for communities, not against them. I will campaign to make sure infrastructure keeps pace with growth and champion good design and place-making that fits our local character. Development should fund the facilities and infrastructure that communities need – from community centres and transport improvements to the roads, drainage, and green spaces that make new areas work for everyone. I’ll also work to ensure local businesses can thrive alongside new development.

Community wellbeing and facilities

Strong communities need spaces and support that bring people together.
I will support work that strengthens local facilities (including community centres), promotes wellbeing, and creates opportunities for people of all ages to connect – from play areas and sports spaces, to activities that reduce isolation.

Housing and representing residents

Everyone should be able to find homes that suit their needs and stage of life – whether they’ve lived here for years or are new to the area.
I will support housing policies that ensure affordable housing is genuinely affordable, champion a mix of housing sizes and types that work for everyone, and work to ensure new housing integrates well with existing communities. I’ll also work with managing agents and housing associations to represent residents who already have homes and ensure their concerns are heard.

These community priorities interconnect and guide where effort goes – better roads help people access facilities and stay connected. Protecting green spaces shapes development quality and ensures growth enhances rather than overwhelms our rural character. Good development funds the facilities and infrastructure communities need. Housing that works for everyone helps build strong, connected communities.

These priorities aren’t set in stone. As your councillor, I’ll regularly check in with residents to ensure these remain the right focus areas. Have a priority that’s missing? Get in touch.
